My Experience at HPIAM

HPIAM has been good to me. As a freshman I had no idea what to expect. High School is a bit scary but thankfully I felt welcomed by the staff here at Linda. I am a bit slow but adapting to this school has not been difficult at all. I think that HPIAM has given me a lot of freedom compared to the freedom in middle school. Although we have to wear uniform we still have a chance to be individuals. There aren’t many restricted areas so my friends and I can hang out almost anywhere us feeling comfortable. I feel very safe here and since this campus is new I find it quite beautiful. It is kept clean as well. I love the fact that there are so many clubs and extracurricular activities. They keep our mind off school for a bit and let us enjoy our talents and display them. We have a chance to begin our own clubs if we feel like we aren’t interested in what is available. One of my absolute favorite things about the school is the fact that 8 AP classes are offered. Although some students are not as thrilled as I am because they fear advanced placement classes I am mesmerized by the opportunity to be able to take these courses. I am fully aware that these will be very useful in years ahead and even now. I hope my hard work pays off. I like how friendly staff is. I am not afraid to walk up and talk to an adult here because they treat me with respect and take into account what I have to say. Our principal M.C. is so friendly. I love the fact that he is involved with the student body and supports us so much. I feel like he wants us to succeed, and we can be honest with him because he is so easy to talk to. HPIAM has been good to me and I expect to do the same to it. I have learned many things these past few weeks and am excited to learn more. I hope to give back to this wonderful school. GO GLADIATORS! And CHOOSE THE RIGHT!

“Every time I’ve done something that doesn’t feel right, it’s ended up not being right”
-     Mario Cuomo

Our conscience is a beautiful thing. A little indicator of where our actions stand against the morality of the world. Whether we choose to do what is correct or not we are usually aware of it. We have that gut feeling of our values going down the drain or rising with the positivity. A lesson we can learn from that is that fact that whatever starts wrong ends wrong. Good results can’t be expected from something evil or negative. You harvest the seed you plant. Do what’s right and it will end up right. If you don’t study you might be tempted to cheat, get caught, and get a bad grade. If you do study then you won’t have to cheat and get a good grade all on your own.

“Only I can change my lifer. No one can do it for me.”
-Carol Burnett

I am who I am. I am the driver in the highway of life. I have choices. I know what is right and what is wrong. I have control. No one else does. I take actions that have consequences. I believe that I have power within myself to be who I want to be. This is MY life. In the end, the only think certain is that the decisions I make will in turn create new beginnings. Whether they are the ones I had in mind is up to me. My mom might want me to be a housewife or something of a sort, but I shall aspire to be more. I shall aspire to be independent and self-sufficient. That life isn’t enough for me so I’ll work as hard as I can to get what I want the right way.

Integrity is something I personally am proud of. Being able to say I do what is correct is one of the best feelings in the world because I know I am not hurting anyone with what’s right. Caught Doing the Right!

Four football players unknowingly entered a store that was closed believing it was open. They showed absolutely all signs of integrity by showing all intent on paying for the merchandise . Given the opportunity to steal, temptation didn’t even touch these wholesome teenagers. They knew how to be honest and practice their values. The act of integrity was caught on camera, and they were tracked down. Instead of being punished for breaking in and trespassing they were praised and given a $50 dollar gift card. They had no idea they would be offered such a prize for something as simple as doing the right. Nowadays it’s rare to find people with values as good as those. It goes to show that going the highway will pay off. We can learn from these four young men. They are simply wonderful and honest people.
