Student Success Statement Final

“Obedience is central to becoming, being, and remaining happy.”
-David A. Bednar

You can use the “bright side”  of  these tests are to  your advantage and to grow. Obedience can be a tool for bettering yourself. Don’t go against the tide but embrace it! It'll be motivation! You need to think of the negative consequences that can occur if one does not follow directions. If you are strong enough to be obedient you know what your integrity is strong. I think that what this means is that in order to learn things we must let ourselves. To refuse is to shut off possibilities of doing things correctly. We must not always meet things in opposition. Instead we should comply and listen and do as we are told in order to understand the true reason behind it. If we are obedient we are free from worries about getting caught. We are free from guilt and shame. If we do what we are told to do then we will find that we are blessed with the freedom we deserve. Obedience is always the best way to go when you know deep in your heart that it is the right thing to do.

Life Planning Progress

I’m actually doing quite a bit of progress son my life-planning goals. Maybe not as much as I’d like. I have been very busy this year as it is my first here at HPIAM. Also I have age-restrictions as I'm just only 15 years old but I definitely understand. I’m trying my best to continue them but I have faith that this summer I will accomplish many of those goals. Most of the things that I have achieved have to do with smaller goals that don’t mean as much in the long run but I’m excited to achieve one of them. I just have received a volunteer application so I can actually help people. I make a commitment to read my goals every single day and expand more and more as I continue on through life because I think this has helped me a lot and I thank Mr. Haymore for this great assignment that has helped me in many aspects.

Class Reflection

  1. What did you like best about this class?
My favorite thing about this class was the sense of simplicty given when we talking about doing what was right. The quotes made me think about how new ways of thinking could empower me to do such things.

    2. What did you dislike about this class?

Something I disliked about this class was the interruptions from those students who could not behave themselves.

    3. What can you recommend to improve this class?

I recommend that you do ctr card checks more often! I love it! (I always have mine, that's why e.e muahaha)

    4. What will you always remember about this class?

“When obedience becomes our goal, it is no longer an irritation; instead of a stumbling block it becomes a building block.”
-James E. Faust

I really like this student success statement because it is very true. You start to look at the “bright side” of choosing the right a bit more. You use these tests to your advantage and to grow. If you continue to see them as a drag then they will feel heavier than they really are. Obedience can be a tool for bettering yourself. Don’t go against the tide but embrace it! It'll be motivation!

“Obedience is the greatest test of life”
-Thomas S. Monson

I think that this means that it can be very difficult to obey and comply to people’s rules. Most want to be their own person and do what they want. They don’t think of the negative consequences that can occur if one does not follow directions. If you are strong enough to be obedient you know what your integrity is strong.

“Obedience sums up our entire duty”
-Hosea Ballou

Honestly I think we have more to give than obedience. We have feelings and thoughts and we’re human. We’re worth more than doing what we’re told if we feel we can give more to the world. No I’m not talking about simple tasks, or laws, or anything like that but I’m talking about limitations on creativity. I think we have more to do than listen to others. We can exceed what we are made to believe. That is what I believe.

Harmful Effects and Consequences of Drug Abuse

Drugs are said to fry your brain. It’s a moment of pleasure but a lifetime of pain. Drugs will also harm those you love. They will hurt relationships and make you physically ill. Drugs can make you steal. You will let people down and do things you never thought you would do. Some people take their lives and others get arrested. They will never see the outside world. It’s your choice. Don’t introduce your friends to them and ruin their lives as well. You can get help and you will be able to lead a happy life. This video creeped me out but it definitely got my attention so it was good. It made me feel sad and uncomfortable but it made an impact.

“Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise”
-Benjamin Franklin

Health is very important and besides diet and exercise a very important factor of good health is sleep. As teenagers we might stress out and our sleeping schedules might suffer the consequences. That can lead to poor performance while awake at school or work. That in turn can cause even more stress and the cycle goes on. Television and computer addiction can also be a problem. We think its more important than sleeping when in reality sleep is the priority. Sleeping well and rising early is great for your health!

The Top 5 Heart Health Tips
  1. Try to keep a healthy food diet
  2. Avoid smoking
  3. Have a healthy lifestyle
  4. Maintain a healthy body weight
  5. Reduce your stress

Personally I will try my best to improve my health by reducing my stress and maintaining a healthy body weight. I used to stress out way more than I currently do and it used to impact my health very negatively. I landed in the hospital a few times but now I am aware that there are many things that I should be grateful for. I will be more organized and prepared in order reduce any kind of stress I have. Although technically I have a healthy body weight I want to exercise more. As I turn fifteen I hope I will be granted the freedom to go to the park and run a few laps and exercise. I want to lose bit of weight to feel comfortable and I will not starve myself but instead increase physical activity in an outdoor environment. That will help reeuce my stress as well and increase my self-esteem.

Pressures from the world can try to force things upon you but if you have the ability to say no and be brave then you have succeeded in choosing the right.

Attitude is the mind’s paintbrush. It can color any situation.
-Anon

I think that attitude is a very powerful thing we have within us. It gives us some control on how we see a situation, and eventually how we act on it. Our mind can make us or break us. It’s our choice on how we decide to act when a problem or opportunity is presented to us. If I move, I rather think of it as a new chapter in my life rather than a negative thing.

Attitude

Attitude is a point of view that you have towards someone or something. It can either be positive or negative and maybe in between. It’s your outlook on a subject, person, pace , thing, or event.
The following words are synonyms of “attitude”:
  1. 1.       view
  2. 2.       viewpoint
  3. 3.       outlook
  4. 4.        perspective
  5. 5.       stance
  6. 6.       standpoint
  7. 7.       position
  8. 8.        inclination
  9. 9.        temper
  10. 10.    orientation
  11. 11.   approach
  12. 12.   reaction

An example of a bad attitude is one of defiance. If I am asked to get out of my seat and refuse to do so, that is an example of a bad attitude.

An example of a good attitude is looking at the Brightside. If I hear prom is coming up and I encourage people to go then that is an example of a good attitude.

“You can’t hire someone else to do your push-ups for you.”
-Jim Rohn

I think that this is trying to show that whatever you want to accomplish in life you have to do yourself. There is no shame in asking for help but in the end whatever you accomplish you should have gotten by your own efforts to be able to feel proud of it. It would be much easier if it were the latter but the sense of achievement is much greater when you have to work hard for it yourself. If I want to become a really good singer I cannot have someone sing for me. No. I have to make the effort to practice and then I can have a sense of accomplishment and feel better about who I am.

Abraham Lincoln was a man of great integrity. He was called “Honest Abe”. When on a ride with a colonel, he was offered alcohol and tobacco. He refused.
