Medical Illustrator

Duties and Responsibilities:
They create graphics for textbook, magazines, journals and educational films strictly in the medical field. Microorganisms and body parts are drawn. Some of these drawings aid in medical research and are models for artificial body parts.
Average Salary:  $35,000 - $50,000
Educational Requirements:
College preparatory program in high school that emphasizes art and science should be taken if interested. In college they should either major in art and minor in science or vice versa.  The majority of medical illustrators have master's degrees in the field from a program that is accredited by Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs. Certification as a medical illustrator requires a graduate degree in medical illustration, a portfolio review, and successful completion of a national examination.

I am not very interested in this field because I don’t consider myself an artist. It is not one of my strengths.
