Abraham Lincoln was a man of great
integrity. He was called “Honest Abe”. When on a ride with a colonel, he was
offered alcohol and tobacco. He refused. He explained that on her deathbed, he
made a promise to his mother when he was nine years old that he would never consume whiskey or
tobacco. Until then he had kept his promise. The colonel respected Abraham
Lincoln even more for not breaking it after all of those years. This shows that
one must not tempt another and that one must not be tempted.
