“The best inspiration is not to outdo others, but to outdo
ourselves”
-Anonymous Author
I think what this means is that sometimes we form an obsession with being
the alpha and coming out on top. Although it is seen as pretty healthy, too
much focus on outdoing our peers can mess with our head and lead to disastrous
results if we do not get the opportunity. It’s a much healthier mindset to
believe we can improve and increase our value and self-worth. If I choose to
improve my running time, get a better grade, and improve my writing I will feel
more empowered to do so than to be better than my peers. I wish well upon them
and myself so I choose to be positive about my own improvements.
