Duties and Responsibilities:
Recreational therapists plan, direct, and
coordinate recreation-based treatment programs for people with disabilities,
injuries, or illnesses. Recreational therapists use a variety of modalities,
including arts and crafts, drama, music, dance, sports, games, and community
reintegration field trips to help maintain or improve a patient’s physical, social,
and emotional well-being.
Salary:
$42,280 per year
$20.33 per hour
Education:
Most people need a bachelor’s degree in
recreational therapy although doctorate and master’s degrees are also
available. A supervised internship of at least 560 hours is needed. .
Therapists must also take continuing education classes to maintain
certification.
I would like to be one because I think that
people who need to get distracted for a while can do productive things.
